Connector for OS Places API

15th February 2021

As previously announced, all Public Sector Geospatial Agreement members have now been given access to the OS APIs. One of these is the OS Places API which allows address searching using AddressBase Premium.

We have now released the Connector for OS Places API, a new service which will allow you to use your OS Places API key (supplied by the Ordnance Survey) to connect to the OS Places API and perform address searching directly from within the ArcGIS platform.

You can sign up for the connector through the ArcGIS Marketplace.

Once signed up and granted access you will be presented with an application which will help you create a new locator item in your content. This can then be used within your desktop, web or mobile applications.

Select the type of locator(s) you wish to create and enter your API key:

This will create a new locator item in your content.

If you wish to configure your portal to allow this to be used in your organisation then you will firstly need to modify the sharing of the item so it is shared with your organisation.

Then go to your organisation’s settings and add the locator to your list of Geocoding services:

You will then see it in your list of locators when you wish to search for an address:Screenshot of OS API Connector set up

We are interested in your experiences of using the Connector and how useful you find it. If you have any feedback or questions please contact us at marketplacedata@esriuk.com
